In celebration of South African Women's Month, Led By Her (the women-led arm of The Lekker Network, a South African professional community for women) is hosting an intimate NYC dinner bringing together a small group of remarkable South African and South Africa-connected women for an evening of connection and conversation. This dinner is part of a global series marking the kickoff of South African Women's Month celebrations, with gatherings unfolding across cities worldwide throughout August, honoring the strength, heritage, and leadership of South African women everywhere. An off-the-record, unhurried evening... no program, no agenda, just meaningful conversation among women who understand the journey. Balu Belz is a membership community strategist, angel investor, and mother of two. She began her career in advertising at agencies including DDB North America and FCB Africa, working on brands like State Farm, McDonald's, Toyota, and Lexus, before pivoting to membership communities. At Chief, she led member experience for 2,000+ members in the Chicago chapter, supported market expansions to Miami and Washington DC, and stood up the Enterprise partnerships team. She currently serves as Director of Community & Growth at The WIE Suite, a global membership community for women leaders. Balu is also a Master certified health and wellness coach, and a nonprofit board member of Child Family Health International (CFHI) and the Wits Fund US. Her angel portfolio includes companies serving women, mothers, and families.
