This time, we’re looking at the other side of the table: why and how investors allocate capital to venture funds. Created specifically for LPs, family offices and other capital allocators, this intimate session brings together a selection of venture capital leaders from the Innovation City community to demystify investing in the venture asset class. Why invest in a venture fund rather than directly into individual companies? How does the relationship between an LP and a fund work? What should investors understand about risk, returns, time horizons and liquidity? And, with funds taking markedly different approaches, how do you choose one that aligns with your investment objectives? Expect a candid, practical conversation about the potential benefits of venture investing, the questions to ask before committing capital and the role venture funds can play in a diversified portfolio. The discussion will be followed by an open Q&A, cocktails and an opportunity to connect with fellow investors and fund leaders. Who should apply LPs, family offices, institutional investors, wealth managers, high-net-worth individuals and other capital allocators interested in investing in venture funds and gaining exposure to Africa’s innovation economy.
